Herbal Steam Sits by womb & soul

Vaginal steaming is an ancient woman’s practice that has been forgotten by most but is being revived and reclaimed as an alternative field of medicine known as peristeam hydrotherapy. Vaginal Steaming is a truly universal practice without any one clear place of origin but has been practiced by women everywhere and was developed for the purpose of postpartum care and gynecological wellness.

Vaginal steaming has been found in South Korea, Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Latvia, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Romania, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Morocco, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Guyana, Panama, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, Navajo Nation, Lakota Nation, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, Ancient Egypt, Babylonia, Mesopotamia, Aztec Empire and the Mayan Empire.

Through the gentle power of herbal allies (such as mugwort, lavender, rose, peppermint, dandelion, white sage, etc.) and steam, this therapy is used for postpartum recovery, sexual trauma resolution, connecting to your sexuality, as a period wellness and beautiful self care practice, and used to target gynecological problems such as long or short cycles, cramps, trouble conceiving, infections, fibroids, cysts, dryness, and more.

Because our culture is remembering this healing art, you may want a guide, I’ll walk you through the process, suggest a strategic approach to tackle your unique self, and help you establish a home routine. I’ll also weave in other soulful practices and create a magical environment into these special sessions that will support your whole being,

For more dialogue on the practice, check out this, this and this podcast featuring the foremost expert in Vaginal Steaming and founder of Steamy Chick, Kelli Garza.

60 min. in-person steam session: +/- $105

You have the option to come to my at-home steam station in NE DC, or, depending on your location, I can come to you with my steam sauna in tow. The sauna was made using sustainably sourced incense cedar wood, and was woman-crafted in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California with the cycle of the moon. I bring everything needed to create your ideal steam sanctuary, then we start the session with an in-depth discussion on your whole body wellness followed by breath work, mantra and meditation before moving to your steam session which includes scent from essential oils and sound to down regulate your sympathetic nervous system. You will be required to complete an intake form prior to our first session to make sure steaming is right for you and so that I may determine what herbal blend and steam schedule will serve you. Vaginal steaming is contraindicated in pregnancy and pregnant women or women who may be pregnant should not steam during this time.

I use Steamy Chick herbal blends exclusively with clients. We’ll conclude our session with creating a customized plan and suggestions on how to set-up a sustainable at-home practice.
